FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ's)

  1. Who can be a member of Forest Kraft?
Any employee of one of our sponsoring employer groups can be a member. Once an employee has joined that person's spouse, mother or father, brother or sister, grandchildren or children can also join.

  2. How do I join?
It's easy! You can send us e-mail (marketing@forestkraft.org), and we'll call you back! Or drop by one of our offices and sign up. Or you can sign up at one of our employer sponsoring groups when we visit. Click here to find out when we'll be at your workplace.

  3. What's involved in becoming a member?
Each Forest Kraft member is a shareholder in the credit union. That means their deposits are actually "shares"… pieces of ownership in the company. When you join, you must pay a $1 fee to process your application, then you'll purchase "shares", which are treated much like a savings account deposit. You must maintain at least $5 in your share savings account to be a member in good standing and eligible for all member benefits.

  4. What are my member benefits?
As a non-profit organization any profits are returned to you, the member/owner in the form of dividends or improved service and convience to you. Practically any service you can get from a bank, you can get at Forest Kraft. With two big differences: lower fees and more personal service. Because our members are our owners, we make sure we're bringing you the services you want. And we make sure you're treated with the respect you deserve. There are ATM's located in the last lane of the drive-thru at all three (3) locations. We also have one at the entrance to the cafeteria at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Our ATM's are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  8. Do you have checking accounts? Debit Cards?
Yes to both! Our checking accounts are also called "share draft" accounts. And our VISA debit card is also very popular. Click here to find out more.

  9. What's the difference between a bank and a credit union?
Each "depositor" in a credit union actually owns shares of the credit union. As long as his or her account has $5, that member can participate in the management of the credit union. Our board of directors and management committees are made up of people just like you, who work for our sponsoring employer groups. Each January, we hold shareholders meeting, where you can participate in decisions that will affect the credit union's future. Each member is treated with equal respect for his or her ownership in the credit union. Credit unions are non-profit organizations chartered solely to provide services and develop the investments of its shareholders, who are its depositors.

Unless the bank stock is publicly traded, banks issue their stocks rarely, and trade them infrequently. Bank stockholders have varying degrees of input into the bank's business, depending upon the amount of stock they own. Every bank conducts business primarily to make its stockholders money. Since its stockholders are not necessarily its depositors, that means the profit of the bank always gets priority over the needs of its depositors.

  10. How can I get my employer to become a sponsoring employer group?Suggest that your employer to contact Forest Kraft. We will send them an application to be completed and returned to our membership committee. Being a sponsoring employer group is a very low cost way to provide fantastic benefits for management and staff.

Are there other benefits to being a member?
Absolutely, and they change all the time! That's why our newsletter, Service 1st comes out whenever there is a change worth noting! It will let you know of the events and special services that we've added. Our member appreciation events are fun get-togethers that let us get to know you better, and provide an opportunity for you to meet other members. Plus there are special offers such as customized ordering of brand name computers at deep discounts, discounted automobile extended warranties, and resources for determining the value of your old automobile, or the one you're thinking of buying. The list changes frequently, as we're constantly looking of more ways Forest Kraft can make your life easier.
